Blockouts

Blockouts are blocks of time in the Appointments module that are set ahead of time for specific purposes. The view below shows some blockouts on an empty day when no appointments have been scheduled yet:

Blockouts do not enforce any scheduling, but they just change the background color. Appointments are scheduled on top of blockouts. Also see the bottom of the Notes page which describes how to use dummy appointments as a quick way to post a note. To setup blockouts, first setup your blockout types in the Definitions window. A quick way to do this is to right click on the main background and select Edit Blockout Types.

Then, go to the Main Menu | Setup | Blockout Default Schedule to setup a typical week. When you create new blocks from that window, they will look like this:

When editing each default block, you can set the operatory. You either have a choice of one op or all ops. If you want a blockout in two ops, you would have to setup two blocks.

Once you have setup your default schedule, go back to the main appointments screen. Your defaults should show. Changing the defaults is done by right clicking on blockouts. You can edit an existing blockout, add a blockout, set blockouts for the day to their default values, or edit blockout types. When you add or edit a blockout, it will look like this:
